TriPoint Hologram Stage

A floating, interactive AI character above a 150 × 150 mm illuminated pad — built as a Pepper's Ghost optical chamber inside a converted Prusa MINI enclosure, rendered by tripoint-engine3d and voiced by TriAi. An optical illusion done honestly: buildable, repairable, and fully software-controlled by TripointOS.

How the stage works

A roof-mounted high-brightness display faces down into the chamber and renders four synchronized views of one scene on black — one per quadrant, each rotated 90°. Four 1 mm clear PETG trapezoids arranged at 45° reflect their quadrant toward each side of the enclosure, so the character appears to float above the pad from every direction.

Build program — five gated phases

Every phase ends in an acceptance gate; no gate, no next phase. The full engineering runbook ships in the repo as docs/HOLOGRAM-ENCLOSURE-RUNBOOK.md with the complete BOM, wiring rules, and commissioning tests.

0Plan & bench

Inventory the reused PC, survey the enclosure, 30-min stress test. Gate: stable on open bench, dimensions recorded.

1Frame & cooling

Removable 2020 subframe, isolated electronics bay, 4× 140 mm filtered airflow. Gate: square, reversible, air path proven.

2Optics & stage

Cardstock mockup → PETG trapezoids → chamber over the lit pad, roof display mounted. Gate: reflections align from all four sides.

3Power & control

Listed PDU, fused 5 V branches, grounded panels, ESP32 + sensors + independent thermostat. Gate: earth continuity <0.1 Ω.

4–5Software & commissioning

HologramApp on tripoint-engine3d, TriAi character schema, kiosk .pcu, 18-test commissioning incl. 2-hour thermal soak. Gate: 10/10 cold boots to character idle.

Honest engineering note: this is a Pepper's Ghost illusion, not free-space volumetrics — and we say so. Safety is non-negotiable: no PC hardware in a heated printer volume, no fog or mist near electronics, guarded fans, fused low-voltage branches, and an independent over-temperature cutoff that software cannot override.
